Install BrowserFairy

Download BrowserFairy from the Mac App Store, open it once, and keep it in your Dock or menu bar while you finish setup.

Make it your default browser

Right after you install BrowserFairy, set it as your default browser so every link from your Mac apps starts passing through your rules. Here is the whole flow from first launch.

Open BrowserFairy once, choose Set as Default Browser, and confirm the macOS prompt. From then on, links route automatically.

Pick your fallback browser

Choose the browser BrowserFairy should use when no rule matches. This keeps unmatched links predictable from day one, and you can change it any time in Settings.

Create your first rule

Start with rules you can recognize immediately. Once those feel right, add more specific matches for tools, accounts, and profiles.

Configure the Browser Launcher

The Browser Launcher is a floating picker for choosing a browser, and sometimes a profile, by hand. In Settings, pick which browsers appear and in what order so it is ready whenever you would rather decide than let a rule choose.

Open it with a keyboard shortcut

Press the global shortcut to summon the launcher from any app and open a link in a fresh window. You can change or clear it any time in Settings under Keyboard.

Add the extension for your browsers

As your default browser, BrowserFairy already routes links from Mac apps like Mail and Slack, so this step is optional. Extensions cover the one case default routing cannot reach: links you click while you are already inside a browser. Add the extension for any browser you use that way.
