Overview
BrowserFairy is a macOS utility by venqoo GmbH. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data we process, for what purposes, and on which legal basis.
The App
BrowserFairy runs on your Mac. Your browsing rules, URL patterns, and browser preferences stay on your device. We never collect, transmit, or store the links you open, the contents of the pages you visit, or your rule definitions.
To understand how BrowserFairy is used and to improve it, the app collects limited, pseudonymous product analytics through PostHog. This covers usage and diagnostic information such as the app and macOS version, your subscription status, how many rules and browsers you have set up, which features you use, and, when a link is routed, which app it came from and which browser it opened in. These are recorded as app identifiers and counts, never the link itself or the contents of any page. Analytics data is tied to a pseudonymous identifier and is processed by PostHog on servers in the European Union.
Other local app data remains on your device unless you choose to export or delete it.
This Website
This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate page views and visitor patterns. Vercel Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies and is designed to provide aggregated statistics rather than profiles of individual visitors.
Analytics data may include information such as the page visited, referrer, approximate location, device type, browser, operating system, and event time. Vercel also processes standard server access data, such as IP address, request time, requested page, user agent, and technical status information. This processing is used to deliver the website, maintain security, diagnose technical issues, and improve the website.
Contact by Email
If you contact us by email, we process your email address, the content of your message, and any additional information you provide. We use this data to respond to your request, provide support, and keep necessary business records.
Legal Basis
We process technical website data and privacy-friendly analytics on the basis of our legitimate interests under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: operating, securing, debugging, and improving this website. When you contact us about BrowserFairy or a purchase, we process your message to answer your request and, where applicable, to perform pre-contractual or contractual obligations under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Where we must keep business or tax records, processing is based on legal obligations under Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.
Processors and Transfers
We use Vercel Inc. to host this website and provide web analytics. Vercel may process technical request data and analytics data as a service provider. Data may be processed outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where required, such transfers are protected by an adequacy decision, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent safeguards.
We use PostHog to provide product analytics inside the macOS app. PostHog processes this analytics data as a service provider on infrastructure located in the European Union.
Retention
Local BrowserFairy app data remains on your device until you change or delete it. Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request and comply with applicable retention obligations. Website server logs and analytics data are retained according to Vercel's service settings and retention periods.
Web Fonts
This website uses Plus Jakarta Sans and Inter through Next.js font optimization. Font files are served from the same domain as this website, so your browser does not contact Google to load fonts when you visit the site.
App Store & Subscriptions
BrowserFairy is distributed through the Mac App Store. Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information. For details on how Apple handles your data, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
Browser Extensions
BrowserFairy's browser extensions (available for Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge) communicate only with the BrowserFairy app on your Mac. Safari is bundled with the app. The other extensions are distributed through their browser stores. They do not send data to any external server.
Your Rights (GDPR)
As a user in the European Union, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. You may also have the right to restrict or object to processing, receive data in a portable format, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA) for private-sector controllers in Bavaria. Because the app collects only limited, pseudonymous analytics and no browsing content, the personal data we hold is minimal, but you can still contact us to exercise any of these rights. If you have questions, contact us at support@browserfairy.com.
No Automated Decisions
We do not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
